Soooo Ama-ZING!

Meheeco was amazing! Truly a once-in-a-lifetime trip.

The weather was sensational, the food delicious, the views breaktaking and the people just so welcoming.

We're so excited about our honeymoon and can't thank all of you enough for your wonderful contributions, we could not have done it without you.

We trialled 6 different restaurants and made great use of the 24 hour room service and free minibar. The weather was so hot, often hitting 30 degrees at 6am, which was the perfect excuse to have a few pre-breakfast cerveza's!

We enjoyed the swim up bars and drinks delivered to us at our beach hut before enjoying a beach BBQ lunch. We didn't quite manage to get through all 31 types of Mojito at the Mojito bar but we gave it a shot.

The resort had so much to do and we enjoyed the pools, pool hall in the early evening when it was just too hot to sit outside, the archery sessions (including showing a few American couples who's boss!) and afternoons in the chill-out hut sprawling out on the huge circular beds with ice cream cones on demand and a good book.

Our excursions were nothing short of sensational. We visited Chichen Itza which was just breath-taking and so steeped in culture and history. Daniel put to use his new found talent for Spanish (or so he thought) to haggle with the locals when buying souvenirs (and did a great job). We then went to an underground pool, via coach (where they plied us with insane amounts of booze), which looked beautiful but a little cold to swim in. Instead we walked around the Tequila museum and drank even more booze as we sampled all they had to offer before striking a great deal for 3 speciality bottles for less than the price of 2 normal bottles.

Aboard the bus on the way to a little town called Valladolid, we sampled some Mayan liquor called Xabentun which they told us after had minor hallucinogenic properties. A few more beers, Xabentun and Tequila shots later we had taken to calling it Qetila to the amusement of our fellow travellers and tour guides.

We made friends with our concierge, a lovely lady named Yadi, who took us out for dinner in Cancun to try some hot Mexican dishes as the resort food, whilst delightful, was quite mild to suit the palates of the guests. Daniel was a little disappointed not to get anything super spicy so a trip into town for some real spice sounded like a good idea. The food was pretty good, quite hot but still not hot enough to Daniel who enjoyed laughing at Yadi and Marie-Anne with Yadi's boyfriend who found it very hot.

The drive back was quite eventful when Yadi's boyfriend went over a speed hump at 50mph :-o

Our final excursion was to Xcaret which was incredible. We took in a few shows, checked out the fantastic animals including giant turtles, monkeys and lizards (which were pretty much everywhere anyway). We enjoyed a swim along an underground river in our snorkel gear and finished the day with a spectular show depicting the history of Mexico with amazing scenes of fireball, Mexican singing and dancing and horse shows. It's just too good a place to describe so we bought some DVDs which you can borrow whenever you like!

Pictures are up in the photo album if you want to look. Prepare to feel jealous ;)

Until next time!
